The Impact of ICE Raids
In Miami, ICE has left a lasting effect on everyday life. According to the American Immigration council almost 1 out of 5 Floridians are immigrants yet almost 27% of the labor force is born from a foreign nation. and Despite their contributions families still face constant disturbance. Local reports also show that when rumors of ICE presence spread, Family owned businesses close early and parents avoid taking their child to school or drive all together. A 2020 study shows that communities with heavy immigration enforcements often experience higher levels of stress, anxiety and instability not ony undocumented residents but it also drastically effects the well being of documented residents as well. Everything just listed create an effect that makes people withdraw from contributing and enjoying socially, it makes people avoid reporting crimes because they are scared of getting deported, and they also are hesitant of seeking medical care all because of the sheer fact that you can get deported just for living where you do.
Immigrants in Miami's community
Immigrants are not just part of Miami, they ARE Miami. They create and have been creating the culture and livelihood of what is Miami and what has been for the past half a century. the Corner stores, Restaurants, and Bodegas are essential corners of each and every neighborhood. they work essential jobs that keep the cities running and pay taxes to support this country just like everyone else. Beyond the economic point, Immigrants are Miami and not only would Miami lose its color and flavor but the heartbeat and philosophy of the city built by newcomers chasing a dream.

Immigration is not only a part of Miami's story but it is essential to the United States future. Across the board, birth rates in the United States has declined, which means fewer young people are entering the work force to support the aging United States population. Immigrants help fill this critical gap that fight the drastic decreasing birth rates. In Miami especially Immigrant children help keep the schools full and vibrant that would otherwise be have shrunken over the past decade or so.
